In all of our groups, we work together to protect everyone's safety and confidentiality. It's fine to participate actively, or just listen. Here's some information about our groups.
Art and Healing Group: Enjoy making drawings, paintings, collages or other forms of art, and sharing the results with the group. We plan to launch an online art gallery to display members' creations, and offer them for sale.
Zappalorti Society Group : Rainbow Heights Club member and consumer advisory board member Bert Coffman has been leading this support group for GLBT mental health consumers on a volunteer basis for over 12 years. On Tuesday afternoons, Bert brings advocacy, peer support, inspiration and self-help to Rainbow Heights Club.
Cooking Group: Come learn about nutrition, menu planning, and cooking; help cook a home cooked meal; and enjoy hanging out in the kitchen with the chef of the day, enjoying the delicious smells and reminiscing about home cooked meals and traditions in your family. Lemongrass, basil, miso, masa and sazon -- it all comes together at Rainbow Heights Club.
Dating and Relationships discussion group: Talk about your experiences. Whether you're in a relationship, or happy without one, let us know how you feel.
Games Group:Have fun interacting with staff members as well as fellow club members by enjoying a game of pool, dominoes, Trouble,Scrabble and a variety of other games. This is a great low-pressure way to enjoy each other's company.
MICA/Double Trouble in Recovery Group: Many of our club members are living with the "double trouble" of drug or alcohol histories in addition to the challenge of a mental illness. Talk about recovery, medications, side effects, and the importance of acceptance and social support.
Creative Writing Workshop: Put pen to paper and let your imagination run wild! Whether through stories or poetry, you control your personal narrative in this group. You're in charge. And who knows? You just might inspire and touch someone else with your writing.
Personal Power Group: Grow and show your pride as an LGBT person and someone living successfully with a mental illness. Exchange your stories and find encouragement to rise above the challenges we all face every day.
Spirituality Group: What helps us get through even the most difficult times in our lives? Even simpler, what helps us make it through even a day sometimes? Explore your beliefs about spirituality, religion, and God every Friday.
Men's, Women's, Transgender, and Bisexual groups: Once a week, we provide separate spaces for men, women and people of transgender experience to discuss their issues and concerns. Just about any topic is fair game. We also provide a games group for everybody to enjoy.
