C.O.R.E. Mental Health Peer Specialist – Part time
Position Description: Rainbow Heights Club is seeking a Mental Health Peer Specialist to provide Community Oriented Recovery & Empowerment (CORE) peer support services to individuals living with serious mental illness. Under the supervision of the Director of CORE & Contract Services, the Mental Health CORE Peer Specialist will hold one on one meetings that are person-centered, recovery-oriented, and culturally competent. CORE services consist of mobile behavioral health supports intended to build skills and self-efficacy that promote and facilitate community participation and independence. The Peer Specialist will use a human-centered approach to support individuals in developing their own recovery, well-being, and health goals. This position requires someone who has a mental health diagnosis and has come a long way in their recovery, and is ready to share that experience with other people.

CORE Peer Specialist Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support interventions based on service plan goals
-
Provide case management services including referrals & applying for entitlements

Provide community oriented services including escorting to care providers
-
Provide telehealth & in-person supportive services related to service plan goals
-
Document detailed progress
-
Provide supportive discharge planning when possible

You may also be assigned to provide nonbillable peer based one on one & group support services as needed in the context of a drop in mental health support program for LGBTQ adults who are living with mental illness

Other tasks as assigned
CORE Peer Specialist Requirements:

We are only accepting applications from individuals who have NYS Academy of Peer Services (APS) certifications, either provisional or full certification.

There is an opportunity to assist with our meal program. Being comfortable in the kitchen is a plus.

High school diploma or GED

Good oral and written communication skills

Footholds/AWARDS data entry experience a plus

Prior experience working with adults living with major mental illness and substance use disorder, including significant prior experience providing 1:1 support and connection to care

Ability to form a therapeutic relationship with consumers from many different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, which are intended to nurture recovery and goal achievement

A professional attitude while maintain a flexible, reliable, patient, organized, trustworthy, supportive, and kind mindset

Hours/ Duration: Part time hire (20 – 35 hours weekly) will be between the hours of 10 AM and 6 PM Monday through Friday.
Compensation: $22.00 per hour
Benefits: RECRUITMENT BONUS of $750 after you complete 6 months of service. RETENTION BONUS of an additional $750 after you complete one year of service. Part-time employees are eligible for PAID SICK LEAVE, plus 12 PAID HOLIDAYS and 1 PAID PERSONAL DAY annually. (Part time employees are paid for 4 hours for each of these days, beginning with their first day of employment.)
